A city-wide initiative to celebrate
cultural diversity

York Celebrates Difference is a concept born from a city-wide passion to unite against intolerance. Founded by partners City of York Council, University of York, York St John University, Joseph Rowntree Foundation and Make It York, York Celebrates Difference provides an opportunity for individuals and organisations throughout the city to show that they stand against hate and welcome people from all cultures and faiths.

This website and a York Celebrates Difference logo have been produced for local businesses and voluntary groups to adopt and proudly display in association with their own events to demonstrate a shared commitment to diversity. It is our aspiration that this becomes widely used and helps to raise further awareness amongst the public and wider community that York is a city of sanctuary, which embraces diversity and will not tolerate prejudice.

Further details about upcoming York Celebrates Difference events taking place across the city will follow soon.
